11 months & Beyond Thankful!

Hey Y'all! Sorry it's been forever since I posted. A lot has gone on since the last post. Olivia went through a series of illnesses, one after another - and eventually was hospitalized. We were wondering if it was something that could have been prevented.. did she pick it up at the daycare she was going to? are we not sanitizing enough? We still have no clue why she kept getting sick. It started with the flu. She had just started walking and as soon as she got sick.. I knew something was wrong. She stopped walking, and would whimper as she crawled along the floor. She acted like she was hurting somewhere and wanted mommy to hold her a lot more than usual. So we took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with the flu. We thought she was better, because she had been fever free for 2 days without meds. The day we took her back to daycare, daycare calls me again saying Olivia was running another fever. This happened over and over for 4 weeks. After we thought she was over the flu, she got something else - the stomach bug - twice. So we switched daycares, in hopes, all the sickness would end and maybe it was the daycare she was going to. THEN, a day and a half into the week at the new daycare.. she got something ELSE - another virus of some kind. This one put her in the hospital because when we went to the doctor, they checked her blood cells and her white blood cell count was extremely high - high enough for the doctor to send us to the hospital. The doctor was worried she may have a urinary tract infection, and if she did, it can only be treated in the hospital. So on November 3, Olivia was admitted into Levine Childrens Hospital. They tested her for as much as they could. We told them our story of how she would get sick, and it seemed like before she was able to get better, she was hit with something else entirely. We had to stay there until November 5. Livy fought fevers the entire time. They were as high as 104 in some cases. That was her only symptom though. Her blood work showed she had a virus - a bacterial one this time, and there was nothing they could give us, of course. But she had 3 good doses of antiobiotics to fight off whatever was going on in her little system. Since our horrible ordeal at the hospital, Olivia has been healthy and back to normal! She is really loving her new daycare, and they love her. She is a totally different baby now. A mommy can tell when her baby is happy, and every day I pick her up, I know I made the right decision in switching her. I can't pinpoint why she is different, if it was how she was treated at the other daycare, or what it is - but I know that she is VERY happy now and it shows!! Through all of this, we learned that sometimes, babies just get sick. Praise the Lord Livy didn't have anything serious! :) :) :)
We almost made it a whole year of being parents. It's been one of the best years of my LIFE (2nd to the year I met my sweet hubby)! I absolutely LOVE being a mommy!!! It is the most challenging, yet most rewarding things I have ever done in my entire life. I wouldn't change it for anything!!
Now... got to get in party planning mode so our little girl will feel extra special as she turns the big ONE!
'til next time........
Love all of you!
